What is almost certainly happening with Tumblr’s image classifier is that they’ve deployed the bot entirely untrained, and are relying on user complaints to train it what NSFW content on tumblr looks like.
Making people participate in their own censorship in this way and punishing them with the threat of being silenced even if in compliance with the rules should they not participate, is, IMHO, abuse of their userbase.
Source: I’ve worked for three different top-five social networks, and at all of them this type of work would have been done by making the userbase do it as much as possible.

Just chiming in as a machine learning expert, this is almost certainly the case (and knowing tumblr, they weren’t even smart enough to throw in pre-trained weights)

Goodnight, Stanley by kitsunesocks: A well-paced post-series Gravity Falls fic that follows the Stan Twins as they stop over in Iceland. Everyone is perfectly in character and has one of my favorite scenes in all of fiction in general (Spoilers: Stan sings Rolling Stones songs!)
Flat Dreams and Flat Minds by PengyChan: Great exploration of Bill Cipher as a character and the writing is amazing in how it makes Bill sympathetic but still doesn’t excuse his actions either. Flat Minds also includes lot of interactions between Ford and Bill that tear my heart out with how much emotion is there. Great read!
With Friends Like These, Who Needs Anomalies? byHealy: Seriesof 100-word drabble on the day-to-day lives of Ford Pines, Fiddleford McGucket and the wacky shenanigans they get up to while researching in Gravity Falls. Sometimes heartbreaking, often hilarious, this is a very quick read but it’s sticking with me.
Post-it Notes and Warm Places by @thescarletscribe: A recent fic from The Power of Mabel week, this fic features some quality Mabel and Ford connecting in the wake of Weirdmaggedon. The character interactions felt so natural and it got me to cry over sticky notes!
Cruel Merciesby @x-i-l-verify and its continuation, Behind the Facade by @skillfulstudio: Cruel Mercies was the very first GF fanfic I read. Fun Fact: I’m still messed up by it! Amazing what-if scenario where the Pines Family come to save Ford just a little too early during Weirdmaggedon.
And finally, two fanfics that are not Gravity Falls but are very important to me:
Small Problems by @sketchytychou: The main reason I still go back to Transformers, this fic follows a team of Autobots who’ve been shrunk to the size of small children and their human companion who helps them along the way. The writing is cute without feeling forced, the action can get intense, and it features one of my favorite OCs ever. I can’t believe it’s almost nine years old!
The 10 Doctors by Rich Morris: The Doctor Who fanfiction that introduced the entire concept of Classic Who to me! This fantastic fan comic (storyboarded like an actual episode) follows all the Doctors (well, 1-10 as it was started in 2006) as they adventure through time and space together. The author has a very clear love of both Classic and Modern Who that’s very contagious!
You know that whole trope where like, the protagonists get teleported up into the aliens’ spaceship or base or whatever and the alien appears to them only it doesn’t appear as it really looks like but rather, since it doesn’t want to scare the protagonists, it takes the form of something we find familiar and pleasing and is like, “I look like your dad or whatever–is this form okay?” Like I think about that trope a lot and I think like, what if the alien couldn’t pick out a form via telepathy and only had earth media to try and decide what form would scare its human guests least and be accepted almost immediately and honestly the more I think about it the more options for what form that might be are just really fun to me.
“I have chosen the form of your earth playwright and composer Lin-Manuel Miranda–do not be afraid. I come in peace.”
“Greetings. I am Glofnorbo of the cloud you call the ‘Pegasus Nebula.’ I have scanned your earth media from afar and empirically decided that you would find the form of the one known as Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson most pleasing. I have come to confer with your leaders.”
“Do not be panic. I come in peace. I have assumed the form of your insectoid demigoddess ‘Hatsune Miku’ so that we may communicate peacefully without my true form horrifying you.”
“It was decided that I would assume the form of your ‘Mister Rogers’ in order to best welcome your world to the galactic neighborhood without frightening your kind.”
“…So did your colleague take on the form of Jack Black for that reason too?”
“No, that is the actual Jack Black. We do not know how to make him leave.”
